Day-to-Day Life

at Grace & Mercy

If you’re ready to get your life back

You’ve Come to the Right Place

We know women experiencing personal crises and trauma feel a mix of fear, shame, guilt, and anger. They are struggling to find freedom and healing. If this is you and you're feeling isolated dealing with abuse, addiction, adverse childhood experiences, homelessness, or incarceration, then you need to know you're not alone.

If you've wondered if there was a way for your life to get better (truly better), so you can reunify with your children and family, heal from the pains of the past and move forward in life with a new level of self-confidence, then you came to the right place.

We know you want to become a safe, loved, and restored woman, and it's just plain wrong that you'd have to overcome trauma and crisis without support. That's what we at Grace & Mercy are here for.

Since 2015, we've helped over 100 women just like you get to the root of their trauma and crisis and experience a new-found purpose for life. Our Founder and Executive Director, Joanna Mack, has experienced her own crisis and trauma. She has a huge heart for helping women restore their lives.

We are committed to helping you so you can stop feeling scared, shameful, guilty, and angry. Instead, you can focus on reunifying with your family, gain practical life skills, and change your life for the better.

Frequently Asked Questions

+ What does Grace & Mercy do & how does it work?

  • When a woman comes to Grace & Mercy, she has experienced drug and/or alcohol addiction, domestic violence, trafficking, sexual abuse or other maladies. We guide her recovery plan around whatever she needs to build her confidence, self-esteem, and help her get to a place of peace and safety. She is assigned a case manager who will guide her every step of the way.
  • She must agree to a 30-day black out period where she is only permitted a phone call to let her family know where she is and that she is safe. She will be able to talk to them in 30 days, which is a critical initial timeframe to start recovery. During this time, she will focus on learning the rules of the house; adjust to the routine, schedule, chores and class requirements; get to know the teachers; and attain everything she needs such as clothing, personal care products, etc. to best help her heal and recover.
  • After the 30 day period, she will be able to move up in her rehab phase.

+ What is the application & admittance process?

It’s simple: (1) Call (270) 987-9021 to schedule an in-person interview, (2) Interview in-person with the Executive Director to see if we are a good fit for each other, and (3) Apply and make your first payment. Read more here.

+ Who qualifies to attend Grace & Mercy?

Women who are in their 20s-50s and have been incarcerated, battling addiction, experienced abuse and/or coming out of homelessness. Women must be detoxed prior to move-in.

+ What is the cost for women attending the program?

$450 upon admission, plus $250 per week to cover room and board.

+ Do you provide sponsorship in cases of financial need? If so, what is available?

Grace & Mercy has many generous donors and partners who donate to sponsor women in the program. Sponsorships are given on a case-by-case basis and are determined by the Executive Director and Board of Directors. If you feel you or a loved one are a good fit to apply to receive a sponsorship, call now (270) 987-9021.

+ Do the residents receive healthcare assistance?

The women enroll in Medicaid. Grace & Mercy also finds quality medical and dental services for residents that are donated by healthcare professionals.

+ How long is the program?

Our program is a 1 year commitment, but typically women stay in the program between 1-2 years.

+ How many women are in the program at one time?

We have a maximum of 25 residents at one time. This is what our home comfortably accommodates, and it ensures we're able to give the focus, attention and priority to the women who've made the commitment to participate.

+ What happens after completing the program?

  • After graduation, we have a Transitional Plan for the women. They find a good job and follow a budget. They find an apartment or home to move into. We furnish everything they need from bed to kitchen to living room and everything in between with the help of our thrift stores. This also includes anything they need if their children are moving back with them.
  • They take continuing education courses -- either psychoeducation or substance abuse classes -- and get connected to a church of their choice to help them create and maintain a lifestyle change beyond Grace & Mercy.
  • Because the program is 1-2 years based on each woman’s recovery needs, some ladies will have already moved out prior to our annual graduation as per their Transitional Plan. While some may need to complete a few more steps before they finish the full program, we allow them to walk at graduation if they only have a couple of classes left.
